Horizons: State of the Game

The official Horizons: Empire of Istaria website has been updated with another “State of the Game” article, in which producer Steve Snow talks about the current status of the MMORPG. A snippet:

Two systems that are currently being focused on are Combat and Community Building. As the next three months go by, players will start to see fixes and optimizations rolled out two these two systems on a technical side.

Another thing we are looking at is the way characters are handled currently by the client. As we move forward with a revisit to the character system players will start to see a gradual improvement to client performance as well.

For ATI users we have come to a point where we can start on a series of optimizations that will address a lot of the problems you guys have been seeing. These optimizations will be coming over the next two months and it will not be a single magic bullet update.

The evaluation and re-work of these systems will occupy the engineers for the next three months, so don’t expect to see a lot of new technical features over that time. We are turning our sights towards the performance of the game from a technical level and working to flesh out the existing content better.
