Jade Empire Reviews

The reviews for Jade Empire continue to make their way to the web, with yet another pair starting off the new week. The first is at About.com with an overall score of 4/5:

Despite a few hiccups, Jade Empire is still a very good game that is among the best on the Xbox. I’m a little hard on the combat system and character development, but they are by no means bad, just not as good as I had hoped. Everything else about Jade Empire is absolutely wonderful, though, and it is still well worth playing through multiple times even if the combat system isn’t all that great. There is so much here and it offers a ton of replay value, so I highly recommend Jade Empire for a purchase.

And the second is at Kikizo Games with an overall score of 9.0/10:

If you’re not turned off by the ease and simplicity of combat, and can revel in the experimentation of Styles and find endless enjoyment in the rest of the game, the score might increase by a few tenths. If you can’t get past the “mash the A button, dodge, repeat” format and can’t realize that there absolutely is something beyond that (although it’s not necessary), then the score will likely fall. This critic sits near middle ground on that issue, and appreciates how striking the rest of the game is. On the whole, and no ifs ands or buts: for RPG fans, Jade Empire is a gem, plain and simple.
