Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Community Q&A #2

GamesCom gave us the chance to know the title’s release dates and witness a new trailer, but in case you’re interested in some additional information about Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning straight from the dev team, look no further than the second installment of this community Q&A, in which art director Tim Coman and executive producer Mike Fridley offer answers on armors, the presence of neutral wildlife and more.

Q: Will there be different types of Finesse-type armor and Sorcery-type armor that break the mold of just leather and cloth respectively? Any enchanted plate armor that you can only wear with a high Sorcery? By superninja

A: I’d start off by saying that there are a lot of unique clothing and armor sets in our game. To answer superninja’s question more directly, there are a number of key material types throughout the game that each give some visual indication of the quality, durability, and power. We’ve also developed a shape and material language for the different Destiny types to help distinguish them from one another.

I don’t want to give away everything, but I will say that in addition to looking different, we have a pile of non-unique sets that have narrative back stories. Each has associated stat bonuses, as well as full unique armors that when combined together give the player an additional set bonus. Loot plays a big role in Reckoning. Q: Will there be neutral wildlife? As in creatures in the wild that are strong and everything, but will not fight you unless attacked. Going along with this, will certain creatures in the wild attack each other? By RPGbacon

A: Yes! Neutral wildlife adds a living, breathing quality to our environments. Some are magical, some are more traditional, but each has been crafted to work within the environment they live in. Creatures do attack each other; it’s very cool to come onto a scene and see them locked in battle.
