Long War Studios Partnering With Firaxis for XCOM 2 Mods

I initially assumed the Long War developers wouldn’t be working on XCOM 2 given they announced they will be busy on their own game, but as it turns out they actually will also be partnering with 2K and the developers at Firaxis to release mods for the game on launch:

We are happy to announce Long War Studios, the developers behind the Long War total-conversion mod for XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM: Enemy Within, has partnered with Firaxis Games and 2K for XCOM 2.

The Long War Studios team, which is comprised of John Lumpkin, Rachel (Amineri) Norman and James (JCLewis) Karlson, is currently hard at work on multiple mods for XCOM 2. These mods are currently slated to be available at launch on February 5, 2016. We’ll have more information about the content of these mods soon.

I always need to get comfortable with the vanilla game before considering mods, but I’m sure there will be some players that will want to jump into what the team is preparing right away. Either way, this is very promising news for the title, and it should hopefully help kickstart the game’s modding scene with a bang.
