LucasArts’ John Geoghegan Named Marketing VP

LucasArts Names John Geoghegan Vice President, Marketing

MARIN COUNTY, Calif. (July 22, 2004) – John Geoghegan has been named Vice President, Marketing, at LucasArts, a leading developer and publisher of entertainment software for video-game consoles, computers and the Internet, it was announced today by Jim Ward, President of LucasArts.
Geoghegan is a veteran marketing executive with nearly 20 years of experience creating and managing marketing, communications and advertising campaigns and brand-building programs for such globally known companies as Sun Microsystems, Procter & Gamble, Sprint, Nestlé, British Airways, Dupont and Chevron.

“The global outlook and creative sensibilities that John has developed in his 20 years in advertising and marketing will be enormously influential for LucasArts as we expand our business,” Ward said. “Our recent hits like Star Wars(r): Knights of the Old Republic(r) and Star Wars Galaxies(r) have been a great start, and upcoming powerhouses like Star Wars Battlefront(tm) and Mercenaries(tm) are going to take us to the next level. John’s going to be an integral member of the team that helps get us there.”

Geoghegan most recently was president of the San Francisco offices of Hill Holliday, an integrated marketing services agency, where he oversaw a client list that included State Farm Insurance, 24 Hour Fitness Clubs and Silicon Graphics Inc. Previously, Geohegan was CEO and president of CareGuide Inc., an Internet start-up company that was sold to Coordinated Care Solutions in 2002.

For five years, Geoghegan was general manager of J. Walter Thompson’s flagship West Coast office, where he oversaw integrated communications programs for such Fortune 500 and well-known companies as Sun Microsystems, Siemens, E*Trade, Chevron, the California State Tourism board and California State Lottery and others.

As CEO and president of Saatchi-Thailand, Geoghegan helped Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising Worldwide expand its international reach into Thailand, Japan and Korea. He began his career in advertising and marketing with Doyle Dane Bernbach in New York in 1984, working on the Hershey Chocolate Company account.

Geoghegan, who lives in Marin County, is also a journalist whose articles on marketing and culture have appeared in such varied publications as The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and Connecticut and Sail magazines.
