Lucasfilm Games Announces New Star Wars Game from Ubisoft and Indiana Jones Game from Bethesda

A few days ago on January 11th it was announced that Lucasfilm Games is now the official identity for all gaming titles from Lucasfilm.

Hot on the heels of that announcement is the news around upcoming AAA games for the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. In addition to the tweets below, this was also discussed in an interview with Douglas Reilly, VP of Lucasfilm Games posted to the StarWars.com site.

New Star Wars Game Announcement

Notably the announcement of a new Star Wars game not being developed by EA for the first time since 2013 due to a 10 year contract. From that we can infer that while it’s being developed by the Ubisoft studio Massive Entertainment it will probably not be released until at least 2023.

We know that fans of Star Wars value the feeling of immersion – of being transported into the Star Wars galaxy and moving through richly-detailed environments. It’s fun to imagine what the team at Massive can do within Star Wars by bringing their innovative spirit and their commitment to quality

Douglas Reilly, VP of Lucasfilm Games

Of course, that doesn’t mean EA is being phased out entirely, Douglas Reilly also mentions that:

We’re really proud of the games we have created with EA,” Reilly says. “We will continue working with them and our relationship has never been stronger. While we may not have a lot of details to share at the moment, we’ve got a number of projects underway with the talented teams at EA.

New Indiana Jones Game Announcement

“Get Your Fedoras and Whips Ready for a New Indiana Jones Game” was the headline for the announcement of a new Indiana Jones game. With the last India Jones games having been made 10 years ago, this should exciting to say the least.

Lucasfilm Games will be working with MachineGames for development and executive produced by Todd Howard of Bethesda Games Studios.
