Mass Effect 2 Firewalker Pack DLC Review

I’m not entirely sure that it’s fair to pen a negative review for downloadable content that’s free, but that’s exactly what the editors at Thankless Grind did for Mass Effect 2’s Firewalker Pack. Here’s the conclusion that goes with their score of 2/5:

I guess what I am trying to say is that if you have finished Mass Effect 2 and are looking for another taste of what made the game good, there is none of that here. No plot, no conversations, no shooting, no characters, nothing. If you are still in the middle of playing through the main game, I can see how this could be enjoyed more as a passable side activity. What is here though is so half-baked that you feel like they were just fulfilling a weird obligation to get their 10 dollars of free content out as efficiently as possible.

I can’t say I disagree, but I’m not one to complain about content that costs me nothing to install. And I’m really digging the way the Hammerhead controls (on the PC, anyway) – it feels far smoother and more agile than the Mako ever did. If they added a bunch of vehicular weapons, armor, and upgrades that we can research, I think it would make Mass Effect 2 a better game overall.
