Mojang Wins Interim Injunction in ‘Scrolls’ Legal Controversy

The latest news on the legal case that sees Minecraft’s developer Mojang and juggernaut RPG developer Bethesda pitted against each other in court comes via Twitter as Markus ‘Notch’ Persson informs us that the indie developer has won the interim injunction and can continue using the name ‘Scrolls.

We won the interim injunction! We can keep using the name “Scrolls”. ZeniMax/Bethesda can still appeal the ruling, but I’m very happy. 😀

As noted by Persson this is, at best, temporary, as Bethesda can and surely will appeal against this decision, but it’s still a first victory for the ill-named upcoming indie title. Either way, we can probably echo Notch’s thoughts on the case’s resolution:

No matter how this plays out, we should still do the quake game. 😀
