Morrowind Designer Diary

The lead artist working on Morrowind, the single-player RPG expected to ship late this year with graphics that look almost too good for an RPG, has served VE up with a new designer diary and a healthy helping of 10 screens, 2 exclusives. Here’s a little parkay, not the real stuff:

Lately I’ve been working to improve some of the existing art. Since Morrowind has been in development for such a long time the art has had a chance to change and develop. As a result, some of the earlier work does not fit in as well as the more recent artwork. So for the past few weeks I’ve been replacing the textures on the Imperial castle pieces. I was unhappy with how they previously looked so I took some time to make them better. While this has taken me away from working on some of the newer art, I feel that it was well worth it. I think that extra time has brought them up to the quality of artwork we have achieved since their original creation.

If the whole team is as talented as the artists, we’re gonna be feeling that special fuzzy you-know-you’re-playing-a-great-game feeling come December.
