Mythica Cancellation Article

Gamer’s Pulse has put together an article entitled “The Myth Surrounding Mythica”, in which they discuss Microsoft’s cancellation of the MMORPG. An excerpt to follow:

On the contrary, its more than possible that the decision to cease development on Mythica stems from analysis that the future of the genre is simply crowded. With the nearing release of Blizzard’s World of Warcraft and Sony Online Entertainment’s Everquest II, Mythica would have faced stiff competition by the end of the year. The recent announcement of Age of Empires III and the anticipated Dungeon Siege II means that Microsoft will already have its hands full promoting both of these titles, among others. Competing against other titles in the massively multiplayer online market, while pushing Age of Empires III and Dungeon Siege II might have spelled doom for Mythica; nevertheless, we’ll never know. What we do know is that Mythica will remain a myth to gamers, prevented from seeing the light of retail stores across America.
