Neverwinter: Avernus – The Redeemed Citadel, Part 3 Live

The Redeemed Citadel, Neverwinter’s ongoing episodic campaign, has reached a new milestone on PC, which means fresh challenges, new server-wide progress goals, and a leaderboard reset. On top of that, the game’s latest patch introduces new Teleportation Hubs and some minor changes to Masterwork Professions.

Here’s more on this new bit of episodic content:

Cryptic Studios added Milestone III to The Redeemed Citadel, the special limited time campaign for the multi-part module Avernus. The latest update features a new leaderboard and added content for the server-wide collaboration to reconstruct the now redeemed Bleeding Citadel of Zariel in Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells. Milestone III is available now on PC and will launch at a later date on Xbox One and PlayStation®4. In addition, the content introduced with Milestone II is now available on Xbox One and PlayStation®4.

About Milestone III

This new update continues the epic campaign of players aiding Zariel, the redeemed ruler of Avernus, in restoring power to the once Bleeding Citadel in the Nine Hells. Milestone III includes a new server progress goal, as with the previous milestone, along with a new leaderboard.

Below is all of the content included in the new milestone:

  • New Leaderboard Goal – Summon Zariel or Huntmaster Soradiel as a Companion
The primary leaderboard goal for this milestone is to gain the ability to summon Zariel. Alternatively however, players can unlock the power to summon Huntmaster Soradiel, the leader of Heaven’s Septem.
  • New Hunt Mark – Nightspine
To earn epic rewards, players can take on this giant charcoal bone devil with powerful acidic attacks.
  • New Chamber – The Portal Room
The portal chamber has been reopened granting heroes direct access to and from the world map within the citadel.
  • New Heroic Encounter – Fallen Angel
A new Heroic Encounter where players must save their celestial ally from the greatest danger of the Nine Hells.

While rebuilding the citadel closer to its former glory, players can earn the following new rewards:

  • Vanity Pet – Lulu
  • Fashion Piece – Holysmith
  • Citadel Teleport Scrolls
  • FX Transmute – Floating Eyeballs
  • Weapon Upgrade Token

About The Redeemed Citadel

To access The Redeemed Citadel, a level 80 character and the completion of the Avernus campaign and Mote of Virtue storyline is required. For the new campaign, players discover that the powerful ruler of Avernus, Zariel, who is newly redeemed and free from Asmodeus’ bondage, seeks to redress the balance of her dark deeds. In pursuit of this goal, Zariel desires for the Bleeding Citadel to be restored to its former glory — for it to once again serve as a bastion of angelic strength in the Nine Hells.

In this epic campaign, rather than taking on weekly hauls or campaign tasks, Neverwinter players instead have to work together to reach four major milestones and reforge the citadel. Players contribute to the reconstruction of the bastion of angelic strength by assisting Zariel with slaying fiends, completing Heroic Encounters in Avernus, completing Holy Register of the Deputation Quests and by doing Weekly Challenges. Weekly Challenges have players slaying demons, locating treasure, or traveling to past dungeons in an effort to gain Zariel’s Favor, a currency that can be exchanged for various goods.

If one of The Redeemed Citadel’s milestones is completed by the server early, there will be some time before the next milestone begins. During this time, players may continue to earn and spend Zariel’s favor, as well as work towards your personal goals. Once the next milestone begins, the previous milestone will end and no more personal progress may be earned.
