Pirates of the Burning Sea Inclusive 14-Day Trial

I could’ve sworn Pirates of the Burning Sea was already running a free trial… regardless, they now offer a 14-day free trial for both new users and old users who are curious about the current state of the game. A list of the progress the game has made can be found here.

A lot has happened since we launched, so we’ve listed some of the more exciting changes below:

* Careers: We’ve split Pirate into Cutthroat and Buccaneer, making it easier for us to balance skills for Pirate players. If you were a Pirate, you’re now a Cutthroat, but feel free to give the Buccaneer career a try!
* Ships: We’ve added several new ships, including the Archelon, Bahamut, El Dragon, La Diligente, Leviathan and others. Many of these were created by players!
* Ship Combat: We’ve revamped all ship combat skill trees to improve balance between careers and to introduce new features. We’ve also improved ad hoc battles to decrease ganking and to fix reinforcement spawn locations. PvP ship battles can be more epic now!
* Dueling: Invite another player or group to combat you without risk! Ships sunk during duel battles do not lose durability.
* Missions: We improved the UI so tutorials are clearer and more informative, and each nation now has its own unique tutorial. There are many new missions, most of which are unique, including some received from rare loot drops. We’ve also added epic group missions for high-level players you won’t want to try these alone!
* Economy: When a ship sinks, a player now receives an insurance payment that covers much of the value of the ship and the equipped outfitting.
* Open Sea: We’ve improved graphics and performance. NPCs spawn more intelligently, particularly when ports are in contention, to make it easier to find the NPCs you want to sink for missions or conquest.
* Conquest: We’ve clarified the UI for determining which ports are in contention. It now takes fewer points to push a port into Pirate PvP and Open PvP, making it easier to create red zones. Economic unrest activities make more sense. Port battles are now scheduled for 46 hours from port flip instead of 48 to enable more people who participated in the flipping to fight in the battle. Once a port battle ends, that port is protected from contention for 96 hours. If your nation came in last in the most recent map conquest, you have bonuses to make it easier to win the map next time.
* UI: We’ve improved much of the UI most notably Chat. You can have chat bubbles if you like, and we’ve improved the chat channels.
* Stability/Performance: We’ve fixed a number of memory leaks, graphics issues and crashes.
* Misc: We’ve improved the camera, keyboard controls, several preference settings and fixed several localization issues.
* More! Many other improvements and bug fixes have been released as well!
