Pool of Radiance Puddles

Watch your step over at The Scrying Room for they have three new features about an AD&D RPG by the name of Pool of Radiance. First is a very well done 5 page new preview featuring high praise for the series and a dwarven ale mug’s full of details about its new style and options. So here’s a swig of combat juice:

With the new 3E rules, combat has become a very well designed turn-based system that goes by character initiative to determine the order in which each opponent will get their turn. Yes, this title features turn-based combat, but don’t let that worry you. As I stated previously, a slider option was included to allow you fans of the infinity engine combat system (or just fans of real-time type games) to have the fast action combat you know and love. Don’t misunderstand me when I say that though as the game is still turn-based and follows the order of turns that was determined by initiative but at the quickest setting a single turn will only last 6 seconds. That 6 seconds goes by very fast and you must be quick to take an action within that time frame else you default to a defensive action and combat moves on to the next character in the initiative order.

A wise one knows how to not push themselves too far if they know there’s more they need to do, so it might behoove you to behold some of their 20+ new screenshots which, along with an interview with PoR’s producer, Jon Kromrey, just add that extra spike people need after a hard day’s work.
