Puzzle Quest 2 Now Available on Xbox Live, Reviews

As of this morning, Infinite Interactive’s Puzzle Quest 2 is up for grabs on the Xbox Live Marketplace for what I think is a reasonable 1200 points (considering that the Nintendo DS version is $30 and Galactrix was 1600 points). To commemorate the occasion, here are some more reviews…

GameSpot gives it a 7.5/10:

It’s appropriate, then, that the best-looking part of Puzzle Quest 2 is also its strongest element–the gem-matching puzzles themselves. With a simplified approach to its role-playing half, the puzzles are left to carry the game, and they do so with aplomb. Puzzle Quest 2 is a fun experience that’ll keep your attention for the 15 or so hours it’ll take to complete the game (without tackling its many side quests), and despite its RPG-lite approach this time around, it’s a game that’s easy to recommend.

G4 gives it a 4/5:

Its poorer elements aside, Puzzle Quest 2 is more or less the sequel fans have hoped for. It’s certainly a better stab at a follow-up than Galactrix was, and I appreciate the efforts it makes to improve on the first game’s gameplay. It doesn’t nail absolutely everything, but you won’t care too much when you’re lost in the throes of yet another nail-biting puzzle battle.

Joystiq gives it a 4/5 (they do scores now!):

When savored in this manner, Puzzle Quest 2 is exponentially more engaging than the original. Sure, there’s still plenty of room for improvement — but there’s no doubt in my mind that the contents of my DSi’s cartridge slot are now spoken for for the foreseeable future.

And Kit Guru Games gives it a 4/5:

Puzzle Quest 2 is a considerable improvement when compared with the first title and takes the strengths while removing most of the annoying weaknesses. The developers have enhanced the content, as well as the user interface and offer a game which assuredly delivers much more for the money. Very addictive and recommended to all puzzle loving DS owners.
