Puzzle Quest: Galactrix Reviews

Infinite Interactive’s Puzzle Quest: Galactrix continues to be the subject of somewhat mediocre online reviews.

Console Monster gives it a 70%:

Galactrix does have a decent game underneath the Sci-Fi veneer, and actually the introduction of some new themes and tactics into the puzzles has been done well. However, the implementation fails to live up to the original and never really feels as satisfying to play. Given the cost of things here, it’s easy to hesitate over the buy button, but those that venture into this new Puzzle Quest universe will enjoy it as this is still an addictive, fun game, and one which will probably last just as long as the original.

NowGamer gives it a 6.8/10:

Although the story’s pretty bland, Infinite has squeezed far more emotions than it has a right to out of such a simple geometric shape. There’s tension during battles, staring desperately into the board to find the move that will give your opponent nothing. There’s genuine considered thought as resources are teased from asteroids. There’s also, unbelievably, Hollywood grade action as you play the role of hacker as that clock ticks down. Quite an achievement, but that price point ain’t recession friendly. Heck, it isn’t sanity-friendly.

And NZGamer gives it a 6.5/10:

So is it worth your time? Hard to say. If you’re a hardcore Puzzle Quest fan you’ll probably be disappointed initially but once you get past the graphics, sound and some of the gameplay (!), the twists on the game are a smart extension on what came before it. If you’ve never played Puzzle Quest before and are tempted by what you’ve heard about the series, buy the original Puzzle Quest instead. It was better the first time.
