Raven’s Cry Released to Negative User Reviews and Bug Reports

Raven’s Cry, a pirate-themed action-RPG from TopWare Entertainment and Reality Pump, has been finally released on Friday, after multiple delays, the last of which moved the release date from January 26th to January 30th, apparently to allow the developers to add some features that were requested by the community. Despite these repeated delays, though, the game seems to have been pushed out in a less than polished state, to negative Steam user reviews and numerous bug reports.

Some of the issues cited include frequent crashes, missing or excessively echo-y voice acting, subpar performance, and broken quest logic. In a thread on the Steam forums TopWare Entertainment CEO Dirk P. Hassinger offered workarounds for at least a few of the common issues with the title, but no patch has been released for the game yet (Hassinger confirmed on the forums that previous downloads where just depot fixes and didn’t alter the game code in any way). Considering how many times Reality Pump’s pirate-themed action-RPG has been delayed, it’s disappointing to see it released in this state, though there’s still hope that upcoming patches might help make Raven’s Cry a more stable, smoother experience.

The title is currently 10% off on Steam for €49.49/$49.49/£35.99. A retail version for PC, and retail and digital versions for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One were also planned, though I can’t find any information online on their current release date, and they seem to be either completely absent or out of stock on online stores.
