Sacred 2: Fallen Angel Developer Diary #4

RPGDot brings us a fourth developer diary for Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, in which graphics designer Simon Trumpler talks about creating the game’s interface. Apparently 1600×1200 will be the highest resolution supported:

The higher the resolution, the smaller the pixels and, of course, the interface elements. In a good interface all elements have a pre-defined minimum size, so it’s easy to click on them and recognize their function. Still, they shouldn’t be too large either, so they won’t obscure too much of the game screen.

In “Sacred 2” you may choose resolutions from 1024×768 to 1600×1200. I will prepare the interface for three resolutions (1024×768, 1280×1024, 1600×1200), i.e. for the 1600 version I will have to make slightly larger buttons. For in-between and special resolutions we will use the elements of the next higher resolution.

Thus, each button not only has to have four different versions for its states, but you also have to multiply that by three to cover all the different resolutions.
