Koch Media sent out a press release announcing that they’re sponsoring tonight’s programming on the UK’s Sci Fi Channel in order to promote the release of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel.

SCI FI CHANNEL PRIMETIME SPONSORED BY SACRED 2: FALLEN ANGEL

London, 5 June, 2009: NBC Universal Global Networks today announced another five figure sponsorship deal for its UK SCI FI channel. Koch Media Limited will sponsor the channel’s primetime programming from June 5, to tie in with the release of its long-anticipated video game Sacred 2: Fallen Angel.

The sponsorship – brokered by Sky Media and MJ Media – will run for three weeks around titles such as brand new spy series My Own Worst Enemy starring Christian Slater and movies Minority Report, John Carpenter’s Vampires and The Fast & The Furious. SCI FI’s in-house team has produced credits and break bumpers around the tagline ‘˜Bringing Great Characters To Life’, to illustrate Sacred 2: Fallen Angel’s game play and the channel’s on-air content.

(With its audience of passionate gamers, entertainment fans, technology lovers and early adopters who keep their finger firmly on the pulse, SCI FI is a natural partner for Sacred 2: Fallen Angel.) said Charlotte Ashton, VP, Programming and Marketing (UK) for NBC Universal Global Networks.

Based in the fantasy world of Ancaria, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is the prequel to its predecessor Sacred and is set 2,000 years in the past. The game is released in the UK today (June 5) and is available on Microsoft’s Xbox360â„¢ video game and entertainment system and Sony’s PLAYSTATION® 3 computer entertainment system. On release in the US, the game reached the number one spot in both the Xbox and PS3 charts.

Video game designer Bob Bates has been involved in its production and a new game engine means that it is rendered in perspective correct 3D, whilst retaining the viewpoint found in older isometric games.

NBC Universal Global Networks’ continued investment in top-quality, compelling, content is helping SCI FI thrive in the face of the economic downturn. The channel has attracted a succession of high-profile sponsors in recent months – including movie blockbusters Knowing and The Spirit – and its action-packed primetime schedule is helping to deliver hit ratings for first run series premieres.

The SCI FI channel is one of four NBC Universal Global Networks owned channel brands in the UK. It is available on platforms Sky, Virgin Media and Tiscali, with a time-shifted service and a high definition simulcast channel also available exclusively on Sky.
