If you’re unfamiliar with Solar Flux, you play the role of the captain of a ship given the unenviable job of reigniting burning out stars, to ensure they keep burning. This boils down to collecting balls of plasma energy and then firing them directly into those stars. Easy right? Well, not always, as the ever-present dangers of space will provide constant hazards. Whether they’re black holes, meteorites, or still-burning stars, you’ll need to stay on your toes or risk getting a planet in the face.

The teaser trailer shown above shows the player’s ship, doing its thing. Collecting balls of plasma, and popping them into the burning out stars. You can also see the manoeuvrability of the ship as it ducks and weaves between the space dangers.

The gameplay of Solar Flux is simple yet still has surprising depth. The Creative Director, Alex Knight says that they’ve aimed to create “a combination of traditional puzzle mechanics, coupled with the serene beauty and unknown that are everywhere outside of our world,” There are 80 missions taking place across 4 different galaxies that have the look and feel almost as if they were designed by NASA themselves.
