Star Wars: KotOR Interview

In an interview at Gamesradar, Casey Hudson, the games producer and project director, and Teresa Cotesta, BioWare communications coordinator, discussed Start Wars: KotOR. The interveiw touches on the experiences of creating a game in the Star Wars universe and character development among other subjects. Here’s a sample:

Q. How can your choice of character or race affect your progression through the game?

A. Casey: You can choose your starting class and gender at the beginning of the game, in addition to creating a name and deciding on your initial abilities, etc. These things affect what you’ll be good at in the game and how easily you’ll progress in certain skills and feats. So, it’s a good way to customise the way that you’ll play the game. As an example, if you choose to be a soldier, you’ll find that combat feats will come to you more easily throughout the game than ones relating to computer skills. That would make you more inclined to play as a tough guy and solve problems with brute force. You can use your character to complement the abilities of your party members, so as long as you choose to adventure with the right characters you’ll always have a good combination of capabilities within your group.
