Star Wars: The Old Republic E3 Previews

For a bit more information on Star Wars: The Old Republic, you need not look any further than RPGSite and GayGamer.

An excerpt from RPGSite’s preview:

Instead of one player controlling the dialogue, all members of a party will get the chance to respond to the words of NPCs and shape the direction of the plot. In one party you could have a neutral Bounty Hunter who tries to spare lives and a ruthless Sith, and they could both be making independent decisions in dialogue that effect the play for both players.

In our demo, the Bounty Hunter character threatens the captain and in spite of him begging for his life the Sith character then chooses to strike him down.

And a snip from GayGamer’s preview:

Hutta is where the Bounty Hunter class begins, and LucasArts was quick to point out that every class will play as its own unique storyline, with unique missions, dialog, and so on. As a ranged fighter, the Imperial-affiliated Bounty Hunter picked off enemies from afar and immolated them with a flamethrower when in melee range.

We also saw the debut of the Smuggler class, a ranged warrior who fights for the Republic, and falls very much in the Han Solo category. He’ll be able to use the first-ever cover system in an MMO, which gives him offensive and defensive bonuses, and when closing in to melee range the Smuggler will kick, punch, and blow away his enemies from point-blank range.
