Steam Hardware Survey

Valve has put up another Steam Hardware Survey, sharing hardware numbers tallied via their digital download service Steam. With the usual disclaimer that they might not be 100% accurate, they do bring forth some interesting numbers, amongst which: DirectX10 support was available on 21.43% of the computers polled. More interesting is the growth of multi-core processors, with quad cores now having a 10.43% install base, and dual core a hefty 49.04%, meaning “only” 40.19% have single-core yet. And this while games can – as of yet – barely utilize quad cores.
