The Broken Hourglass Interview

Clan DLAN has published a two-page interview with Planewalker Games’ Jason Compton about their upcoming CRPG, The Broken Hourglass.

Q: This roleplaying game consists in controlling a group of adventurers. What are their characteristics? How are they going to act in combat? Will there be interaction between all of them? We also assume there are going to be romances?

A: We offer a total of nine joinable NPCs. NPCs may be completely player-controlled or they can be guided by AI. One of the guiding concepts of the AI is a balance between favoring self-health and party health versus inflicting damage on enemies, so different types of profiles will be more guarded, or better geared to a support role, than one which wades in and tries to hack everybody to pieces.

All of our NPCs will of course interact with each other and with the player character as well, both in the form of long conversations as well as short interjections or bits of heckling. And yes, four of the NPCs will have the potential to romance the PC as well. (and in case anybody is concerned- two of them are male and two of them are female. Don’t forget that it was the infamous three-to-one imbalance which got me involved in modding in the first place!)
