The Elder Scrolls Online Horns of the Reach and Update 15 Preview

Some details on The Elder Scrolls Online’s upcoming Update 15 and its next piece of DLC have been revealed. The Horns of the Reach DLC and its accompanying free update are set to be released this August. The DLC will include two dungeons full of content, while the free update will offer some new PvP features and a bunch of quality-of-life improvements.

A few paragraphs on that:

THE THREAT IN THE REACH

Horns of the Reach features two brand-new dungeons for you and three companions to explore and conquer as a group.

The first of these new activities is Bloodroot Forge, an ancient, long-forgotten forge that was recently rediscovered by the Reachmen and their minotaur allies. This forge, rumored to have been created by the Daedric prince Hircine, can create weapons of unbelievable power. When exploring this new dungeon, you will navigate through heavy vegetation and deep, lava-filled corridors to reach the heart of the forge and put a stop to Gherig Bullblood’s plans.

The second dungeon is Falkreath Hold, a township under siege that will soon fall to the marauding hordes of Domihaus the Bloody-Horned. You and your companions must break the siege, move into the town and Jarl’s Hall, and defeat the monstrous warlord himself.

As you take on these new dungeons, a host of new and familiar enemies will stand in your way, including Reachmen, minotaurs, and even bizarre Nirnblooded creatures. Of course, you will have to take on challenging bosses in the form of deadly monsters, cunning sorcerers, and fierce warlords.

These new dungeons will be available in both normal and veteran modes (including veteran Hard Mode for the last boss) and they will feature new rewards in the form of unique item sets, monster sets, and achievements.

NEW PVP ACTION

As part of Update 15, there are some additions to the game’s 4v4v4 game mode, too.

A new map called Arcane University will be introduced to the regular Battlegrounds rotation. This map, set in a college in the Imperial City (NOTE: you don’t need the Imperial City DLC game pack to play), features heavy indoor fighting, tricky teleporters, and high platforms that force you to watch your feet at all times.

There will also be a new Battlegrounds game type titled Chaosball. In Chaosball, you must capture and hold onto the “ball” for as long as you can. The longer you hold onto the ball, the more points you earn. However, while controlling the ball, it’ll also apply a healing and armor debuff and gradually deal damage to you and your entire party! Yikes! Like the other Battleground game types, Chaosball was designed to be fast-paced, frenetic fun.

Note that this new Battleground and game type is only available for players who own ESO: Morrowind.

BASE GAME UPDATE

Finally, Update 15 features a host of quality-of-life improvements for everybody, including the ability to cancel a research project mid-way, Guild Invite History, and an update to the currency system that allows you to deposit Alliance Points and Writ Vouchers into your bank!

We’re also adding customizable combat cues for ability and attack telegraphs. This will allow you to customize the colors displayed so that you can better identify attacks in game, making it easier for everybody to play and enjoy ESO.

There will also be the usual bug fixes and balance changes along with new homes and furnishings, so keep an eye out for future patch notes!
