The Lord of the Rings: War in the North Weapons Q&A

If there’s anything you’d like to know about the weapons in Snowblind’s The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, you’ll likely find the information in this community Q&A that’s gone live on the official website. These three questions stood out to me:

Q: Are there going to be any special weapons for each of the classes?

Jason: Yes, there are indeed class-specific weapons. Staves are the exclusive territory of the Elven Lore-master, and can be wielded as either a one-handed or two-handed weapon. Crossbows, two-handed battle-axes, two-handed war-maces, and two-handed great-hammers are used only by the Dwarven Champion, while the bow is reserved for the Dunedáin Ranger class.

Q: Are there unique weapons in the game? Or at least, ultra-rare ones?

Jason: Yes! After all, it wouldn’t be a Snowblind game with tons of loot and unique weapons. And while there’s a seemingly endless variety of weapons with special properties and unique capabilities, we still found time to set some aside as very rare finds.

Q: Is there a “mastery” of a weapon — as you use it, will you gain more abilities with it?

Jason: The player skill systems are really the place to achieve weapon specialization and push your character’s mastery of weapon types. Special skills that add new attacks and increase the effectiveness of weapons really allow a player to create their own focus and hone combat skills with dual-wielding, two-handed weapons, one-handed weapons plus shields, and so on.
