The Sinking City Details Revealed

Bigben Games and Frogwares Games have released more information on their Lovecraftian mystery, The Sinking City, an open world, action investigation game inspired by the dark and often twisted world of H. P. Lovecraft.

As you saw from the trailer, the protagonist Charles W. Reed is a private investigator (or Dick if you will) suffering from his tortured past, and the weird visions he keeps getting. So, he heads off to Oakmont Massachusetts, hoping to seek help for his whole ‘going a bit crazy’ thing.

The city of Oakmont, once a bustling trade city due to its harbour is known for its lucrative smuggling business, however now the place is full of decay and dark superstitions as it wallows under a tide of supernatural activity. It’s up to Charles to deal with the dregs of mankind, and to follow the clues to unveil a cosmic horror that threatens the very world itself.

There are many paths and decisions to take as you travel through and solve the problems of Oakmont, but if all that fails at least you have your trusty weapons to dish out some good old ‘martial justice’. Sometimes it’s completely unavoidable. Though it’s best to remember that you’re but a human against some large otherworldy beings, so violence should be used with caution.

“Looking for a missing person, but only have their name? I’d recommend asking at the police station or the hospital, maybe they know something. We are serious when we say there will be no handholding, no markers on the map, no instructions in your diary. You find evidence and talk to people to find something to push you forward.”
