The Top 25 Xbox 360 Games

IGN has cranked out a list of what they feel are the top 25 Xbox 360 games released since Microsoft’s popular console first went on sale. Oblivion comes in at #8, BioShock comes in at #6, and Mass Effect tops the list at #1.

Mass Effect is not a perfect game. It has its foibles, most of them technical. We can recognize that and still adore it because of the great, oftentimes cinematic, leaps forward it takes. This is a game that delivers a story worthy of the silver screen in an interactive way that, in many respects, surpasses what a simple movie can offer. From the innovative conversation wheel, to the fantastic voice work, to things as simple as a wrinkle on Commander Shepard’s forehead, Mass Effect brings everything together to engross the player in this deep, fantastic sci-fi universe.

From the makers of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect is a role-playing game that toes the lines between genres. The result is a game that offers enough freedom to play the game how you feel comfortable — be it straight shooting or exploring the depth of the characters and their skills — while still offering enough structure to deliver an experience that feels poignant.
