Torment: Tides of Numenera First Hour of Gameplay

inXile CEO Brian Fargo and lead area designer George Ziets were the guests of honor of today’s episode of IGN Plays Live. The reason why is simple: they were there to showcase the first hour of gameplay of Torment: Tides of Numenera, ahead of the game’s Early Access release next week (backers will be able to start playing sometime this week). The video showcases the game’s character creation sequence, a Mere sequence, and a quick look at the very first two locations in the game.

Fargo provides a great deal of commentary on inXile’s game development philosophy and the studio’s aims for Torment, while Ziets occasionally delves into the game’s lore and writing. Text-heavy as Torment seems to be, it doesn’t make for the most exciting demo, but I don’t expect that to be a problem for this website’s particular audience:
