Two More Fable Reviews

A couple more reviews of Fable trickled in this evening, both of which are fairly positive. The first is at Bona Fide Reviews with an Editor’s Choice Award:

Fable hit the bulls eye in the gameplay test but only if the player has the motivation to attempt gameplay elements that may not be in the main storyline. This is perhaps Fable’s greatest flaw. While the main storyline is greatly entertaining, a large portion of the fun in the game is found in the side quests. Unfortunately, these aspects can be entirely missed. It is completely possible for the player to play through the game and experience perhaps only 50% of what it truly had to offer. If that happens, then the player may walk away unsatisfied. However, if the player explores and tries everything, I am absolutely certain that they will have a blast.

And the second is at NTSC-uk with an overall score of 7/10:

There isn’t an easy way to break this, though: Fable isn’t the greatest RPG in the world ever. Many of the touted extraordinary features were dropped before the release but that doesn’t make it a bad game. Fable is a solid action adventure, which is best not rushed through if you want to maximise the enjoyment factor. The interaction of your character with the world of Albion and its inhabitants is its most enduring and enjoyable quality; it’s important this aspect of the game is understood and explored. There will be those disappointed at the missing elements, but look at it this way: you went to a banquet expecting a twelve course meal and unfortunately it only had ten. That’s still a lot of calories.
