Two Worlds II Preview

OXM UK is the latest website to slap together a preview of Two Worlds II, though it’s not quite as rosy as some of the other articles we’ve seen.

Yes, the voice acting is still terrible. Okay, the scriptwriters may have binned the excessive forsooths and mayhaps, but their adequate prose is still being mangled by actors who sound like they’ve only just started learning to read. Entering the game’s admittedly interesting Village mode, you’re introduced to the concept by a villager who sounds like his tongue is being clumsily operated by someone using a piece of string. It’s hilarious.

So yes, elements of Two Worlds II retain the awful charm of the original, but actually when you stop giggling at the hapless ‘voice actors’ and get down to the business of clonking enemies on the head, you realise that this is playable in a way that the previous game could only dream of. Okay, there are a few fiddly controls to get to grips with – it’s a complex RPG – but hacking and slashing is satisfying, particularly when you bring a chum or seven along.
