Two Worlds Peek #1

RPG Vault has posted their first “peek” feature for Reality Pump’s Two Worlds, kicking off the series by discussing the software the team used to create the RPG.

Oblivion and Gothic 3 both use SpeedTree, but for Two Worlds, Reality Pump developed a special tree generator for extra-realistic vegetation. This generator enables not just textures with a considerably higher resolution to be created, but also “Self-Shadowing” to be used. According to Mirek, while it would certainly be possible to model and texture each type of tree using a 3D program, every instance would look the same unless modifications were made to it, which would have to be done individually for each tree. Reality Pump’s TreeGen only requires the textures of the bark and various leaves.
