Vampire: The Masquerade – Heartless Lullaby FAQ

Vampire: The Masquerade – Heartless Lullaby is a project developed in just a month by Entalto Studios for last year’s Vampire Jam. It takes about an hour and a half to complete and is currently available on Steam for free. But according to this FAQ, the developers will be expanding it into Vampire: The Masquerade – Heartless Symphony, a full RPG utilizing the 5th Edition of the Vampire: The Masquerade ruleset.

Here’s how that’s going to work:

Hello everyone!

First of all, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your comments and all the feedback you are giving us, you really are a wonderful community. Let us introduce ourselves, we are Entalto Studios, the developers behind Vampire: The Masquerade – Heartless Lullaby! We are a small Indie studio, made up of eight people from the north of Spain, and Heartless Lullaby is our first narrative project set in the World of Darkness.

Heartless Lullaby was our entry in the Vampire Jam, held during the month of November 2021, in which we were the winners. Developed in just thirty days and completely from scratch, Heartless Lullaby is just a proof of concept that serves as a prologue. We want to make it clear that it is NOT a full game, just a first chapter!

Let us now answer the most frequently asked questions.

If this is a prologue, does that mean a full game will be developed?

That’s right! After the great reception from the community, as well as all the support received from Paradox Interactive, we are pleased to announce that the final version, titled Vampire: The Masquerade – Heartless Symphony is in development. We are currently in pre-production, where we are looking for the right Publisher to bring it to life.

What can we expect from Heartless Symphony?

In a nutshell, Heartless Symphony expands on everything presented in Heartless Lullaby and develops concepts that were only mentioned during the prologue, such as: A full RPG, with character customisation, skill and attribute progression, important decisions and so on. A length of around 10-15 hours, with multiple endings, side quests and points of view; Zak, Diane… and even Jaxon, Christophe and Lewis as playable characters! An art style strongly inspired by Disco Elysium: all hand-drawn scenes and dozens of characters crafted with care and love. And finally, a real introduction to the World of Darkness, more accessible to veterans and newcomers alike.

Are you going to update or correct the content of Heartless Lullaby?

No. Heartless Lullaby is a closed project. We are aware of all its weaknesses, and we would like to make sure that your feedback is taken into account and, for Heartless Symphony, elements such as “allowing the player to run”, for example, will be implemented, as well as a save system.

About the different endings of Lullaby, do they depend on the RNG and the rolls?

Not at all! The different endings of Lullaby, as well as the narrative progression we are developing for Symphony are not locked by dice rolls, but by the actions actively taken by the player. In Lullaby we have four different endings, where the fates of different characters are influenced by the actions of both Zak and Diane, never by random dice rolls.

Finally, we would like to thank you again for the welcome and invite you to follow us on our social networks, both on Twitter and Instagram (@EntaltoStudios), where we will gradually show you the progress of Heartless Symphony.

Thank you very much for your attention, and remember, don’t get lost in the night!
