Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Q&A

Okratas has published a brief Q&A with Sigil Games’ Salim Grant, in which the designer discusses the crafting process in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. A snippet to follow:

Q: Previous games have had very static results when it comes to crafted items, citing both balance and database concerns. SWG had a fairly complex set of crafting mechanisms, but then limited players to one character citing database space. Will Vanguard be able to give players the best of both worlds?

A: Without going into details on how our database structure will work I can assure you that we have considered the issues that the SWG team faced. I worked on SWG for a year and a half as QA, QA Liaison and Designer and while it upset me knowing the decision that had to be made on SWG I understood that the sacrifice of extra character slots was to try to provide the player with a much more immersive experience than had been presented before.

When I started working here, one of the first concerns I brought to the table was character size and I am glad to say that it had already been considered and I was assured that Vanguard would not have this problem. So giving players the best of both worlds is simply a matter of execution on my end, at this point; so, yes we will give you the best of both worlds.
