Warcraft’s Lich King Profiled

IGN AU brings us up to speed on Warcraft lore by providing a brief history lesson about the Lich King we’ll be dealing with in Blizzard’s newly unveiled World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack.

In order to understand who the Lich King is, the tale must kick off with Ner’zhul – Elder Shaman of Draenor. His is a strange and ultimately sad tale. As Ner’zhul escaped the dying land of Draenor, he broke a blood pact with the demon Kil’jaeden, known as the ‘Beautiful One’.

What was the blood pact? To begin eradicating the Draenei – a supposed threat to the Orcs. Well, the divine Kil’jaeden was acting out of character for an ethereal being – bearing a grudge with the Prophet Velen, leader of the Draenei. Even more curious? Kil’jaeden actually resembled a Draenei in dress and skin tone. So what was the deal? Kil’jaeden had been lying to Ner’zhul for his own gain.
