World of Warcraft Reviews

Yet another trio of reviews have hit the web for Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, including RPG Vault’s take on the game. They don’t provide an overall score, but here’s a clip from their conclusion:

To put it simply, World of Warcraft is a landmark release for persistent state gaming in the western hemisphere. In a time when the term next generation is thrown about so easily as to seem trite, it seems well on its way to becoming the title that ushers in a new era for the entire category by attracting significant number of new players who aren’t experienced online gamers. As for the question posed at the beginning of this review, is it for you? Well, if you’re looking for an open-ended sandbox type of experience, or if you demand rock-like stability, perhaps not. For anyone and everyone else, whether veteran of the category or thinking about trying it for the first time, suffice it to say I’m still playing almost a year after entering the beta. I look forward to seeing you in Azeroth.

The second is at RPGamer with an overall score of 4/5:

In conclusion, we have ourselves a fine, fine game here. It’s well-balanced, pretty fun, has plenty of charisma, lets the player choose how they want to advance, and more. It’s not perfect, but for an MMORPG it comes pretty close. However, those not familiar with MMORPGs might find there’s more game play here than those desensitized to the genre. It is, however, definitely recommended to Warcraft fans looking to further their knowledge on the story of the Warcraft universe.

And the third is at GameDreamz with an overall score of 9/10:

WoW is simply the most polished, consistent, and solid gameplay experience ever to inhabit the MMORPG genre. It is truly the first game to transcend the genre as not only a great MMORPG, but an excellent game in general.
