Overview

1 – Armory

Inside the locked chests in the armory, you’ll find a Fine Breastplate, a Fine Large Shield, and more.

2 – Hidden Wooden Box

If you can detect this box, then inside it you’ll find a random magical item.

3 – Trapped Wooden Box

Inside this box you’ll find a random magical item.

4 – Cell

Inside this cell you can detect a loose brick hiding a random magical item.

5 – Giacco’s Cell

If you free Giacco from his cell, then you’ll gain a “moderate” reputation bonus with Gilded Vale. If you kill Osrya (#7) and tell Giacco about it, then you’ll earn another “moderate” reputation bonus with Gilded Vale. Freeing Giacco will also prove your worthiness to Nedmar (#12).

6 – Crate

You’ll find a set of Camping Supplies in this crate.

7 – Osrya’ Room

Osrya is involved in the quest Lord of a Barren Land. If you kill her, then she’ll drop Osrya’s Grimoire (from which you can learn the spells Crackling Bolt, Fireball, and more) and a Rusted Iron Cell Key. The key will allow you to open the nearby prisoner cells (including #5). If you work with Osrya, then she’ll open a nearby secret door, which will give you access to another staircase between the Dungeons and the Main Hall (Exit I).

Also in this room you can pick up an undead Black Cat. If Osrya is alive, she won’t mind if you take it.

8 – Locked Door

You’ll only be able to open this door by pulling the lever on its eastern side.

9 – Storage Room

Inside this storage room, you’ll find six sets of Berathian Priest Robes. Despite there being six sets, only one of your characters will need to wear a robe to fool the guards in the Sanctuary.

10 – Patrolling Guards

If you try to sneak through the Sanctuary using Berathian Priest Robes (#9), then around these three spots you’ll encounter patrolling guards who will demand to know what you’re up to. There are two ways you can satisfy the guards peacefully: you can pass Resolve 12, Resolve 14, and then Resolve 16 dialogue checks, or you can pass Intellect 10, Intellect 12, and then Intellect 13 dialogue checks (or some combination of the two). You can also sneak past the guards, and if you agree to help Nedmar (#12), then he’ll tell you a pass phrase that will cause the guards to leave you alone.

11 – Locked Door

You can get the Burnished Steel Key for this door from Nedmar (#12). Otherwise, you’ll need at least Mechanics 7 to pick it open.

12 – Nedmar’s Room

Nedmar is involved in the quest Lord of a Barren Land. If you help Nedmar during the quest (or kill him) then you’ll get a Burnished Steel Key from him, which will unlock some of the doors in the Sanctuary and Main Hall (including one in the scriptorium, #11). Nedmar might also tell you the code phrase to satisfy the patrols (#10).

13 – Skull

If you can detect the eye socket of this skull, then you’ll be able to open a nearby secret door, which will give you another route to Nedmar’s room (#12).

14 – Secret Door

To open this secret door, you’ll need to detect the hidden switch in the bookshelf on its western side.

15 – Office

You’ll find some loot in this office, including Boots of Evasion and a Pistol.

16 – Raedric’s Bedroom

In this bedroom, you’ll discover the remains of Ygrid, Lord Raedric’s wife. She’ll have her throat slashed open — presumably the punishment for birthing a Hollowborn child. In the trapped chest at the foot of the bed you’ll find a random magical item.

17 – Throne Room

This is where you’ll meet Lord Raedric, who is the primary objective of the quest Lord of a Barren Land. In a hidden compartment in the throne, you can find a Fine Scepter and some gems.
