Nightingale Court – Pool of Radiance: ROMD

This guide covers a part of the Myth Drannor section of Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor. The guide consists of a list of enemy types you might encounter, along with a walkthrough that has its steps numbered.

Possible Encounters

Walkthrough

1 – PATH TO SPECULUM GROUNDS

The first thing you do after reaching the Nightingale Court is to defend yourself against some Lizardfolk. You can follow this path to get back to Speculum Grounds.

2 – GARGOYLES VS LIZARDFOLK

Some Gargoyles and Margoyles are fighting a Lizardfolk here. Join the fight and kill them all.

3 – PATH TO THE CATACOMBS (PRISONS)

The wooden door that is found here cannot be opened from this side. You will ascend here from the Prisons level of the Catacombs. You can then travel back there.

4 – OBSIDIAN EDGE

Four Lizardfolk Warriors feast on a body of a gargoyle here. Attack them and you will get a nice dagger, the Obsidian Edge.

5 – GREAT STONE HEAD

During you trip into the Dwarven Dungeons you found several strange stone heads, the so-called Idolons. For every Idolon you place into the Great Stone Head here you will be rewarded with one of its Fading Rings. The Idolons can be found almost anywhere in Myth Drannor so keep then with until the next time you visit this place.

6 – KNIGHTS CACHE

This door here leads to a small room, the Knights Cache. Once inside fight the arraccats guarding the place. Search the room and you will find a small shield +3, a light mace +3 and a nice staff Roderick’s Walkingstick.

7 – LOCKED DOOR

The door here is locked at the moment and you cannot pass through from this side. You will open it later once you reach the Castle Passage on your way the Castle Cormanthor.

8 – SPINNING SPIRE

Another spinning spire is located here. When you restore the Orrery you will be able to travel around using this Spires.

9 – PATH TO LIZARDFOLK TUNNEL

Take this route through the wooden door here and you will find yourself down to the Lizardfolk tunnel. Doing this will also clear the path backwards.

10 – MALGI HI

When you get near to this area you will be attacked by a few lizardfolk. Defeat them, and Malgi Hi, a human sorcerer, will appear soon after along with 4 stone lizardfolk. This is a tough fight so be prepared before you engage him. After the fight take a wand of Hold Person and a powerful scroll, Kiaransalee’s Scroll of Claim, from the ground. The scroll actually casts Finger of Death.

11 – ORRERY PLANET

Continue south from area #10 after defeating Malgi Hi and you will get to a small camp. Here you will find the Lizardfolk Totem, release one of the missing Orrery planets from the totem. The Planets are needed to restore the Orrery and the Spinning Spires. A chest also contains the Ring of Relinquishment.

12 – LIZARDFOLK GEOMANCER

In this area you will have to face a Lizardfolk Geomancer and a few more Stone Lizardfolk so move with caution.

13 – EAR OF THE CITY

A strange Column in the middle of this square will talk to you as soon as you get near. It is called the Ear of the City and can reveal the locations for several magical items around Myth Drannor. It only gives info for three items at a time though so be sure to check back here often. It can also tell you the Song of Faerum.

14 – ANNORRWEYN EVERSONG’S TEMPLE

The first time you get here you will find 2 dark Nagas lurking around this place, Skerndli and Gorgat. They will say something about their boss, another dark naga named Kog. They will also tell you about Annorrweyn the priestess of Mystra and that she no longer exists. If you shout the name of Mystra, Annorrweyn will answer and the dark Nagas will attack as well as their boss that will appear that moment. Defeat them and smash the Naga Idol to destroy “Seething” the Spawn Pool. A chest there contains another Idolon, a sling +3 and a Leather Armour +3.

If you visit Beriand and Faeril after you free the temple they will tell you about the Token of Mystra and that you have to return it to the ancient temple. Faeril will also offer to join you. Return here with the Token of Mystra and Annorrweyn will talk to you. She will let you know that you have to find Miroden Silverblade in order to restore the Mythal and teach you the word of Necessity you need to reach him. The power Word opens the door sealed with the Glyph of Safekeeping down to the Lower Keep of the Catacombs. She will also ask you to return her skull back to her tomb so that she can stay to this world and help you with your quest. The skull is obtained at the First Cellar of Catacombs after the fight with the Drow and Greyanna, so remember to return here when you have it.

Finally after freeing the Bealnorn Miroden Silverblade return here once again and ask Eversong if she wants to become the Communicant of the Mythal. She will accept and tell you that you have to go to Ironbar at the House of Gems and obtained a Gem of the Weave. She will also mark your body so that you can open Antarn’s Gate at the Speculum Grounds.

15 – MAGIC PORTAL

You are teleport back here to the Nightingale Court from a portal at the secret lair of Miroden Silverblade down to the Prisons of the Catacombs after you free him. Be ready to face the cult in ever step you do from now on.
