Pool of Radiance Preview

Now that Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor is only a couple of months away, the anticipation is beginning to build. To keep everyone’s hunger satiated, GameSpy has written up a two page preview for the game, which includes several new screenshots. Here’s a taste:


    The area where Pool II deviates the most from other RPGs on the PC is through its combat system. Instead of offering a hack-and-slash experience like Icewind Dale, non-combat situations in Pool II take place in real-time and combat is turn-based. The result is a much slower gaming experience as battles stretch out for several minutes. Colored bands around the base of the characters show the status of their health; the fewer the bands, the weaker the character.
