Crazy Truck Review

5/10

Listen, I'm just an editor, how am I supposed to know what Jim wanted to say with this one? He didn't talk about how good it is, what happens, nothing. He just described one mechanic vaguely. The game isn't ever around on Android anymore to test out for me to guess how he would've reviewed it.

A week or so ago, I reviewed Police Chase Race by Boombit Games and I enjoyed it so much that I figured I’d review another one of their games, Crazy Truck.

Crazy Truck is a sideways scroller where you play what appears to be a monster truck filled with enough helium to cause it to float away, not entirely sure why, but there lies the difficulty in trying to control it. So, all you have to do is make sure that the monster truck continues on its path towards the right, whilst avoiding mines, bombs, cars any other dangerous or explosive things that will put an end to your linear journey.

To do this, simply push on the screen and hold it. As you push, the monster truck descends, let go again, and it floats back to the top of the screen. That’s it, that is the entire control system, not overly complicated it is.

However, the complication lies in the fact that I found myself wanting to push the screen to make the truck rise, in the same way that Mario or Sonic would jump. It seems kind of back-to-front this way round, but this is where the challenge is.

You do get used to it. Once you’ve had a few go’s you can make that bad-boy float and drop like a master. It is quite challenging, I’m embarrassed to say I can’t get very far at all, though with what plays like an endless amount of goes, it’s easy to go in for just one more try, so I’m sure I will eventually get it covered.
