In our latest Skyrim Fansite poll we asked if players have gotten married in Skyrim. The majority of poll respondents answered that they either hadn’t gotten married (38%) or didn’t know that you could get married in Skyrim (28%). The remaining 34% have successfully tied the knot. As a player, whether or not to get married in Skyrim is a personal choice. If you’re not hitched yet, here are three compelling reasons why you may want to say “I do.”

Reasons To Get Married In Skyrim

  1. Housing After tying the knot, you and your spouse will need to live somewhere (you don’t expect your blushing bride or dashing groom to sleep in tavern back rooms or wilderness camps, do you?). Thankfully, your spouse owns a house. Immediately after the wedding ceremony your partner will ask if you should live in their house or yours. If you don’t already own a home, marriage is a great advantage, giving you a place to hang your half-helm. You don’t have to carry your spouse across the threshold, but when you get married in Skyrim you definitely have a place to call home.
  2. Money If you happen to relocate your partner to your own house (now or in the future), your spouse will tell you that he or she wishes to set up a shop. Being a shop owner beats sitting around the house eating bonbons all day, and your partner will soon start to earn a little side money from their business while you’re off adventuring. If you get married in Skyrim not only can you sell items to your spouse, but you can purchase items as well. Best of all, your spouse will split any profits the store makes with you. Cha-ching!
  3. Cooking As it turns out, your marriage partner is a good cook. Once a day you can ask that he or she cook you a meal. Home cooking is better than eating at a greasy inn. Not only are your spouse’s homemade meals prepared with love, the food will increase your Magicka, Health, and Stamina regeneration by 25% for the next 600 seconds after eating. You get to eat like a king when you get married in Skyrim, and best of all, you don’t have to wash any dishes!
