Where to Find the Stun Gun – Sons of the Forest

Sons of the Forest’s island is not a friendly place, and so you’ll want to get your hands on as many weapons as possible, as soon as possible. One relatively easy to acquire weapon is the Stun Gun — while it isn’t undefended, it also isn’t too tough to grab. In this guide, we’ll show you exactly where and how to get the Stun Gun.

Getting to the Cave

The Stun Gun is in the rebreather cave on the northern side of the island. It’s easy to identify on your GPS tracker, since it’s the only cave that sits right next to the ocean. If you’re having trouble seeing it, change your GPS’ zoom level withbutton xbox menu/ Middle Mouse — if it still doesn’t show up, you might be on the wrong side of the island!

The cave is right on the shore, and sits in a small rock face. There are two yellow barrels in the water quite near the entrance, which can help make it easier to locate. Before entering, consider preparing as much as possible: Build a shelter and save your game, craft a bow and arrows if you don’t already have some, or check and see how many bullets you have left in your pistol. You can usually sneak or run past the enemies in the cave, but it never hurts to be read for combat.

Once you’re ready, head to the mouth of the cave — you’ll need to use your axe to break the boards covering it — then hold playstation x button/ button xbox a v2 / computer key e t to enter.

Finding the Stun Gun

This cave is very dark, so you’ll need to use either a torch or the Lighter (button xbox dpad left/ computer key l t ) to find your way. The torch makes things a bit clearer, but also seems to have a more limited range, so feel free to use whichever you’re more comfortable with.

Upon entering, you’ll be in a cavern lit by a lamp — grab all the loot near the light, and don’t forget to click on the laptop to get the location for the entertainment bunker. Afterward, the bunker will be marked on your GPS tracker with a green circle.

Continuing on, you’ll come across another lamp, and then a third that illuminates some shallow water (1). At this point, you’ll need to decide how you want to deal with the enemies that are just around the corner (2). The simplest thing is to sprint past them, but if you haven’t been in the cave before, it’s easy to get turned around, so it can also be a good choice to take them out with a crafted bow or pistol. Some players have reportedly been able to sneak past the enemies here by putting away their lighter, but it can be difficult.

In any case, crouch before going around the corner, then take a moment and watch the enemies from a distance to make sure you can identify as many as possible (we encountered 4 cannibals and 1 mutant).

Beyond the mutants are two paths — to the left is the Rebreather (which you can learn more about in our guide on finding the Rebreather), so we’re going to take the right-hand path (1). The passage will widen and narrow periodically, but there’s only one way forward. Don’t rush, as you’ll eventually run into a mutant potentially blocking your path. If this happens, back up until the passage is wide enough to go around it, then sprint past it and keep going forward.

You’ll soon start to hear music, and then you’ll come to a radio stuck to the ceiling. Continue past it and you’ll enter a room with some nasty babies on the floor. Keep moving and you’ll soon reach your goal — the corpse of a workman with the Stun Gun hanging next to it (2)! Hanging nearby is a leather Jacket (3), so make sure you grab that as well.

You can peek through the gap at the end of the passage to see something creepy goosh its way by, and then it’s time to head back the way you came. When you reach the spot where you turned right, you can head down the other passage to find the Rebreather (see here for details), or you can simply continue the way you came and make your way out of the cave.

We hope this guide helped you snag the Stun Gun! Questions and suggestions are both welcome in the comments below.
