1 – Dethmold
2 – Gates of Vergen
3 – Entrance to the tunnels
4 – Zoltan & Saskia

Background

To lift the curse and remove the mist, Geralt needs four artifacts which represent the aspects of war: Death, Hatred, Courage and Faith. One of them, Hatred, is contained within Vandergrift’s sword.

Walkthrough

This quest is automatically received once you talk to Dethmold (#1) during the quest The Blood Curse, when you’re ready to cross the mist. All of the steps in this quest match the ones in The Blood Curse, so the walkthrough will be slightly simplified, as the quests unfold simultaneously.

Once you’re over at the other side, head to Vergen (#2) with Zoltan , and you’ll meet Skalen and Yarpen.

You’ll learn that the sword is in possession of Saskia, the leader of the insurgency on the other side of the mist. Skalen and Yarpen will tell you that, along with some other minor details. Zoltan will go to get the sword, while you recover the standard for the quest Death Symbolized.

Once ready, head to the tunnels at #3 and then towards Zoltan at #4. He’ll bring Saskia along, as he failed miserably at deceiving her, but fear not! Saskia is a very noble woman and she’ll hand over the sword because that will put the relentless ghosts from the mist to rest. This quest is then completed and you’re off to do the quest The Spear of Destiny and progress further with The Blood Curse.
