Race: Crow’s Perch – Witcher 3 Quest

This guide is a walkthrough of a side quest in the Witcher 3 for the area of Velen. The guide is composed of a map, map legend, and walkthrough to show readers exactly where to go and what to do to complete the quest.

Background

You’ll receive this quest from the “Horse Races” note on the notice board in the Crow’s Perch inner keep in Velen West (#1).

Walkthrough

For this quest you’ll need to show up at the horse racing starting point after dark and talk to Radko the promoter (#2). You’ll have three people that you can race, and beating them will earn you different prizes. In order of easiest to most difficult, you can race:

• Stuttering Matt. You’ll win a Racing Saddle, 20 crowns, and 25 xp, plus whatever you bet.
  
• Iron-Arse Hans. You’ll win Saddlebags, 30 crowns, and 25 xp, plus whatever you bet.
  
• Black Bogdan. You’ll win Horse Blinders, 40 crowns, and 25 xp, plus whatever you bet.

For each race, you’ll have to go to Blackbough (#3) and back. Your minimap will indicate the proper course. Deviating from this course by too much will cause you to lose. You can win these races without a saddle, but it’s much easier if you have one since you’ll have to do a lot of galloping to stay ahead of your opponent. Sometimes an obstacle will appear during the race, like explosive barrels or a log in the road, so you’ll have to stay on your toes. After winning all three races, Radko and the three horse racers will disappear.
