Death by Fire – Witcher 3 Quest

This guide is a walkthrough of a side quest in the Witcher 3 for the area of Velen. The guide is composed of a map, map legend, and walkthrough to show readers exactly where to go and what to do to complete the quest.

1 – Burning House

Background

In Velen North you’ll encounter three bandits trying to burn down a house with somebody inside. If you attack the bandits, then you’ll trigger this quest. If you walk away, then you’ll fail the quest.

Walkthrough

The bandits are just regular bandits and should not be complicated to defeat. After dealing with them, you’ll need to break open the door to the house, either with your weapon or with the Aard sign. With the way clear, a female elf will come running out. When you talk to her, you’ll learn that the bandits were trying to rob her, and that when she wouldn’t reveal the location of her money, they decided to kill her. To prevent this from happening in the future, she’ll tell you where she hid her money — in a log behind her house — and she’ll welcome you to take it. You’ll find 20 crowns in the log, and you’ll also earn 25 xp for completing the quest.
