Defender of the Faith – Witcher 3 Quest

This guide is a walkthrough of a side quest in the Witcher 3 for the area of Velen. The guide is composed of a map, map legend, and walkthrough to show readers exactly where to go and what to do to complete the quest.

Background

You’ll receive this quest from a peasant woman in between Blackbough and Crow’s Perch in Velen West (#1).

Walkthrough

The woman will ask you to “repair” a nearby shrine to Verna. All you’ll have to do is straighten it up, which will earn you 10 xp. This good deed will impress the woman, and she’ll decide that repairing shrines is your calling. So she’ll ask you to take care of any other defiled shrines that you encounter during your travels.

You’ll find two more shrines in need of your services. At the first (#2), you’ll just need to straighten it up again, and you’ll earn 25 xp for the effort. At the second (#3), you’ll meet the students who have been knocking the shrines over. They’ll preach at you that the gods are dead and that the shrines are doing more harm than good. If you decide not to get involved, then you’ll fail the quest. But if you order the students to leave, then they’ll attack you, and you’ll earn 50 xp for killing them.
