Background

You’ll trigger this quest by reading the note “A Runewright Upon Your Shores Has Landed” on the notice board in front of the Seven Cats Inn in the Novigrad Outskirts (#1).

Walkthrough

The note will let you know that a runewright is staying in a tent near Brunwich, and that he’d like to interview people about anything and everything so he can learn more about the world. You’ll find the runewright at the Upper Mill in the Novigrad Far Outskirts (#2). When you talk to him there, he’ll describe what it means to be a runewright, but he’ll inform you that he lost all of his tools during the voyage here, and that he can’t afford to replace them.

Given that the runewright can do more with runes and glyphs than you can, you’ll decide that he’s worth an investment. When you then pay the craftsman 5000 crowns, you’ll allow him to get started, and you’ll complete the quest. There isn’t any way to pay a lesser amount.
