This guide is a walkthrough of a side quest in the Witcher 3 on the Skellige Isles. The guide is composed of a map, map legend, and walkthrough to show readers exactly where to go and what to do to complete the quest.

Background

South of Blandare in Ard Skellig (#1), you’ll discover a corpse and an overturned cart by the side of the road (#2). When you loot the corpse, you’ll find an Itinerant Merchant’s Notes and a Small Chest Key. Reading the notes will trigger the quest.

Walkthrough

The notes will mention that the merchant had a treasure chest strapped to his cart. You’ll find the chest down the hill to the south, submerged in the water — and probably guarded by mucknixers (#3). The chest will be locked, but the merchant’s key will open it. Inside the chest you’ll find a leveled version of the steel sword D’yaebl, plus some other items. Looting the chest will complete the quest.
