2 – Witch’s Cottage

Walkthrough

From reading Hendrik’s Notes, you’ll learn that Ciri recently had a dispute with a witch near Midcopse in Velen West (#1). When you visit Midcopse, you’ll overhear two women talking about the witch, and they’ll mention how to get to her cottage. The directions are lengthy — go to the pond, then the boulder, then the cart, and finally the cottage — but you’re not required to remember them. The map markers for the quest will show you the way.

When you reach the cottage (#2), you’ll witness a family out front asking the witch for help for their sick cow. The witch will help them, but you’ll get the sense that the villagers don’t much like her, and vice versa. Then when you enter the cottage to talk to the witch yourself, she’ll mysteriously be gone, and you’ll have to hunt around for her. Most things you examine won’t lead to anything, but when you touch the skull in the witch’s bedroom, a portal will appear.

When you enter the portal, you’ll find yourself in a secluded glade. The witch, Keira Metz (a member of the Lodge of Sorceresses), will be in a large gazebo-like structure taking a bath. During the ensuing conversation, Keira will tell you that she hasn’t seen Ciri, but she’ll reveal that a masked elven mage was looking for her. She’ll then offer to take you to the mage. This conversation will earn you 100 xp and conclude the quest.
