The Dead Have No Defense - Witcher 3 Quest

1 – Deserter Camp

Background

At a Hidden Treasure location in Velen South (#1), you’ll discover a deserter camp filled with level 9 deserters, including a shield-bearing deserter leader. After defeating the deserters, you’ll find a Common Key and a Marauder’s Notes on one of the corpses. Reading the notes will trigger the quest.

Walkthrough

The notes will indicate that the deserters have started looting graves in the graveyard to the east (#2). When you head over to that location, you’ll encounter two more deserters, but you’ll also spot a locked chest. The Common Key will allow you to open it. Inside the chest, you’ll find a leveled version of the steel sword Ultimatum plus some random items. Looting the chest will complete the quest.
