Toussaint South – Witcher 3: Blood and Wine Location

This guide is an overview of a certain location in the Witcher 3: Blood and Wine DLC. The guide is comprised of a map, map legend, and walkthrough of all the various points.

Overview

1 – Count de la Croix’s Mill

This mill is involved in the quests Amidst the Mill’s Grist and Capture the Castle.

2 – La Compassion Orphanage

This orphanage is involved in the quest Blood Simple.

3 – Corvo Bianco Vineyard

You’ll eventually gain ownership of this vineyard. It’s involved in the quests The Beast of ToussaintNo Place Like HomeBe It Ever So Humble, and The Hunger Game.

4 – Tourney Grounds

This site is involved in the quests The Beast of Toussaint and The Warble of a Smitten Knight. You’ll meet four shopkeepers in the area: an armorer (journeyman), barber, blacksmith (journeyman), and innkeep. They’ll all perform their regular duties, and they’ll all play you at gwent for up to 50 crowns per game. If you beat all four opponents, then you’ll win the cards Skellige Storm (weather) x2, War Longship (siege 6 tight bond), and Young Berserker (ranged 2 berserker).

5 – Cave

This cave is involved in the quest Feet as Cold as Ice.

6 – Abandoned Site

To free this site, you’ll have to defeat a single level 38 archespore. You won’t receive a reward for this act, but afterwards the peasants will return, and they’ll bring some lootable containers with them. You’ll also need to clear this site for the quest Wine Wars: Vermentino.

7 – Lac Celavy

You’ll meet a hermit on the island in the middle of this lake. He’s involved in the quest There Can Be Only One.

8 – Monster Den (Kikimores)

This den is involved in the quest Father Knows Worst. You’ll find a Place of Power inside.

9 – Hidden Treasure / Bastoy Prison Ruins

When you arrive at the ruins here, you’ll encounter a level 42 alp. Alps are vampires, so be sure to use Black Blood and Vampire Oil to make the battle easier. Afterwards, you’ll find the corpse of a woman in the middle of the ruins. She’ll have a Clerk’s Diary and an Old Key in her possession. Reading the diary will trigger the quest The Toussaint Prison Experiment.

Also in the ruins, you’ll find the diagram for Manticore Steel Sword in the tower prison cell on the eastern side, and you might find a random armor dye formula (probably black) in a chest on the eastern side.

10 – Abandoned Site / Coopers’ Slope

At this site you’ll encounter a level 45 cyclops. Killing it will allow the coopers to return to work. You’ll need to clear this site for the quest Knight for Hire.

11 – Cave

Outside the cave here, you’ll meet a wine merchant. He’ll give you the quest Vintner’s Contract: Duchaton Crest.

12 – Cave

You’ll discover two entrances to the cave here, but you won’t find anything of note inside. The cave is involved in the quest A Portrait of the Witcher as an Old Man.

13 – Cave

When you enter this cave, you’ll discover that it’s filled with a purple gas. This will give you some hallucinations / trials that you’ll have to deal with:

  • Two naked women. If you approach them, then they’ll turn into level 43 bruxae, and you’ll have to fight them. But you can also skirt around them and avoid the fight.
  • Five beggars. You can give them alms (10 crowns each), or you can just walk past them, which will force you to fight a level 40 archespore.
  • A peasant being attacked by three level 40 kikimore workers. If you try to loot the nearby pile of treasure before rescuing the peasant, then a level 40 kikimore warrior will appear, and you’ll have to fight it and the workers. Otherwise, you’ll only have to fight the workers.
  • A crumbling wall. This isn’t an illusion. You’ll just need to use Aard on it to break through.

14 – Hidden Treasure / Seidhe Llygad Amphitheater

On the western side of the amphitheater here, you’ll discover the corpse of a woman. She’ll have a Perfume-Laced Journal and some wine with her. Reading the journal will trigger the quest But Other Than That, How Did You Enjoy the Play?

Beneath the amphitheater you’ll discover a cave entrance blocked by an illusion. If you have The Eye of Nehaleni, then you’ll be able to dispel the illusion. Inside the cave, you’ll find a chest with some random loot inside.

15 – Knight Errant in Distress

At the bandit camp here, you’ll come upon a knight errant being attacked by three level 43 bandits. You’ll need to save the knight for the quest Knight for Hire. After the battle when you loot the camp, you’ll find the diagram for Faramond’s Blade in a chest.

16 – Place of Power / Cave Entrance

At this location, you’ll find a place of power and a cave entrance. The cave entrance will start out closed, and you’ll only be able to open it during the quest What Lies Unseen.

17 – Guarded Treasure

You’ll encounter a few level 37 bandits here, but you’ll find various containers to loot, some in the bandits’ camp, and some in the water nearby. In one of the underwater containers, you might find a random armor dye formula (probably black).

18 – Hidden Treasure

At this location, you’ll discover a body in the water. When you loot it, you’ll find an Ornate Key and a Sodden Letter. Reading the letter will trigger the quest The Last Exploits of Selina’s Gang.

19 – Belgaard Vineyard

This vineyard is involved in the quest Wine Wars: Belgaard (Part 2).

20 – Cave

This cave is involved in the quest Of Sheers and a Witcher I Sing. You won’t find anything of interest inside.

21 – Abandoned Site / Hortense Vineyard

You’ll encounter three level 43 giant centipedes here. If you defeat them, then workers including an herbalist will return to the vineyard. You’ll need to clear this site for the quest Knight for Hire.

22 – Abandoned Site / Tilly Field

You’ll encounter a level 40 slyzard here. If you defeat it, then workers will return to the field. You’ll need to clear this site for the quest Wine Wars: Belgaard (Part 2).

23 – Hidden Treasure / Coopers’ Workshop

After defeating the level 37 bandits at this site, you’ll find Orders from Graybill Pellegrin and a Gardener’s Key in a sack. Reading the orders will trigger the quest The Inconstant Gardener.

24 – Tesham Mutna Ruins

This site is involved in the quests La Cage au Fou and Tesham Mutna. You might encounter a level 44 beann’shie when you first arrive.

25 – Cottage / Warehouse

The warehouse here is involved in the quest Wine Wars: The Deus in the Machina.

26 – Francollarts

You’ll encounter a few people and things of interest here:

27 – Mere-Lachaiselongue Cemetery

This cemetery is involved in the quests La Cage au Fou and Pomp and Strange Circumstance. When you first arrive at it, you’ll be attacked by a pair of level 37 archespores. After defeating them, you’ll discover two entrances, both leading to a set of catacombs connected to some caves.

Inside the caves, you’ll find a kikimore nest complete with some level 37 kikimores. If you destroy the eggs in the nest using Igni, then you’ll earn 100 xp. You’ll also discover an illusionary wall in the crypt. In the room beyond, you’ll find the grave of Sir Ramon of Gichon. It’ll have a leveled version of the silver sword Casus Foederis on top of it.

28 – Underwater Cave / Underwater Portal

In this part of the lake, you’ll discover an underwater cave and an underwater portal. The cave is involved in the quest Applied Escapology. The portal is involved in the quest Turn and Face the Strange.

29 – Doren Alma Estate

In front of this estate, you’ll run into a man named Gaston. He’ll give you the quest Extreme Cosplay.

30 – Trastamara Hunting Cottage

When you first arrive at this location, you’ll find the cottage abandoned, the doors locked, and spoons hanging from strings like wind chimes. This will make more sense when you work through the quest La Cage au Fou. The cottage is also involved in the quests The Hunger Game and Spoontaneous Profits.

31 – Cave

Inside this cave you’ll find a shrine to Lebioda where people have left prayers on the walls. If you take Merten’s Prayer from the wall, then you’ll find the diagram for Manticore Armor on the back of it.

32 – Cave

In front of this cave you’ll meet a wine merchant. He’ll give you the quest Vintner’s Contract: Cleaning Those Hard-to-Reach Places.

33 – Guarded Treasure

At this site, you’ll discover three level 43 garkains (vampires) guarding the corpse of a man. After the battle, when you loot the corpse you’ll find diagrams for the silver sword Fen’aeth and Toussaint Ducal Guardsman’s Gauntlets.

34 – Termes Palace Ruins / Place of Power

In the southern part of the ruins here, you’ll discover an abandoned camp with a hole in the ground right next to it. If you climb down into the hole, then you’ll enter a small cave with nothing much of interest inside. But in a small chest in the camp (under a bench), you’ll find Isabelle Duchamp’s Journal, which will indicate that there is a magical barrier somewhere in the ruins that can be opened with a Purple Ruby.

In the middle part of the ruins, you’ll discover an entrance behind a waterfall. In the chamber beyond, you’ll find some containers to loot plus a breakable wall with a Place of Power behind it.

In the northern part of the ruins, you’ll discover the entrance with the magical barrier. On the ground in front of it, you’ll find a Purple Ruby and George Herbert’s Letter, which will give you some hints about what happened to the expedition from the southern camp. To open the barrier, you’ll just need to place the ruby into the wall setting next to it.

Past the magical barrier, you’ll encounter some level 40 barghests, giant centipedes, and wraiths, but you’ll also find the corpse of a witcher and a witcher’s satchel, which will provide you with the diagrams for Grandmaster Wolven ArmorGrandmaster Wolven BootsGrandmaster Wolven GauntletsGrandmaster Wolven TrousersGrandmaster Wolven Silver Sword, and Grandmaster Wolven Steel Sword.

35 – Person in Distress

At the camp here, you’ll discover a blacksmith being held captive by several level 40 bandits. When you kill the bandits, the blacksmith will automatically travel to Belgaard Vineyard (#19), where he’ll set up shop as a master blacksmith. You’ll need to free the blacksmith for the quest Wine Wars: Belgaard (Part 2).

36 – Bandit Camp

After defeating the level 40 bandits in the camp here, you’ll find the diagram for Toussaint Color Guardsman’s Gauntlets in a chest.

37 – Abandoned Site / Freinte Docks

You’ll encounter several level 44 bandits here. After defeating them, the workers, including a journeyman armorer, will return to their posts. You’ll need to clear this site for the quest Knight for Hire.

38 – Toussaint Prison

This prison is involved in the quests Burlap Is the New Stripe and The Perks of Being a Jailbird. Also, just to the northwest of the prison, you’ll discover a Hidden Treasure site and an underwater cave. These are both involved in the quest Applied Escapology.

39 – Flovive

You’ll find a few things of interest in Flovive:

40 – Hidden Treasure

At this site, you’ll discover a corpse being guarded by a trio of level 35 drowners. After dealing with the drowners, you’ll find a Letter to Pascal Pelissier and a Small Key on the corpse. Reading the letter will trigger the quest The Black Widow.

41 – Guarded Treasure

You’ll encounter a few level 38 barghests here. After defeating them, you’ll discover a corpse hanging from a tree. It’ll have the diagram for Toussaint Ducal Guard Captain’s Boots in its possession.

42 – Cave

In this part of the map, you’ll find two entrances leading to the same cave. Inside the cave, you’ll encounter some level 40 giant centipedes, but you’ll also find the corpse of a witcher (in a small chamber near the center of the cave), and he’ll have the diagrams for Grandmaster Ursine BootsGrandmaster Ursine Trousers, and Grandmaster Ursine Steel Sword.

43 – Tufo Vineyard

This vineyard is involved in the quest Contract: The Tufo Monster.

44 – Ardaiso Quarry

This quarry is involved in the quests Contract: Bovine Blues and Big Feet to Fill. You’ll also meet a journeyman blacksmith in the quarry, and you’ll find a notice board that can give you the quests Big Game HunterContract: Bovine BluesGwent: To Everything — Turn, Turn, TournamentKnight for HireMutual of Beauclair’s Wild Kingdom, and Wine Wars: Belgaard (Part 1).

45 – Guarded Treasure

After defeating three level 47 rotfiends in the camp here, you’ll find the diagram for Toussaint Ducal Guard Officer’s Armor in a chest.

46 – Fort Ussar Ruins

You’ll find a few things of interest at these ruins:

47 – Cave / Person in Distress

In and around the cave here, you’ll encounter several level 44 bandits. After defeating them, you’ll discover a merchant in a cage. To let him out, you’ll need to loot a nearby book, where you’ll find the Cage Key. Once freed, the merchant will make his way over to the Cockatrice Inn (in Toussaint North).

48 – Hidden Treasure / Casteldaccia Abandoned Estate

When you first visit this estate, you’ll be attacked by a level 47 ghostly knight. The knight will hit you hard and not take any damage from Igni, so you’re probably best off going with Quen and then wearing him down bit by bit. After defeating the knight, when you search the estate you’ll discover a corpse holding Notes by a Vandaguilder from Filibert’s Hanse. Reading the notes will explain who the ghostly knight was and trigger the quest Filibert Always Pays His Debts.

49 – Hidden Treasure

When you first arrive at the destroyed camp here, you’ll have to defeat a few level 40 drowners. Afterwards, you’ll find a book containing Orders on Stained Paper and a key. Reading the orders will trigger the quest Waiting for Goe and Doh.
